We took the 2025 Tesla Model 3 for a spin, and right from the get-go, it’s clear Elon’s electric dream has only sharpened. Cruising along the M1 at a legal-but-fun pace, the car’s instant torque hugs you like it’s got a secret it won’t share. Hit 100 km/h, and you’re gone before your brain fully processes the quiet thrill of electric acceleration.
Inside, the cabin is a study in minimalist chic. There’s nothing unnecessary; no dangling levers, no confusing buttons - just a clean, panoramic touchscreen that controls almost everything. It’s a love-it-or-hate-it approach, but once you’ve mastered it, it feels like a cockpit from a sci-fi flick, with autopilot nudging you along highways like a trusted co-pilot.
Handling is sharper than you’d expect from an electric sedan. Thanks to its adaptive suspension and low centre of gravity, the Model 3 sticks to corners with surprising composure, turning even the tightest suburban twists into a controlled, almost sporty glide. Even the regenerative braking is satisfying - pull your foot off the accelerator and the car practically hugs the road, slowing gracefully while recharging the battery.

Charging? Australia’s network is growing fast, and with V3 Superchargers, a quick coffee break can net you hundreds of kilometres. The range anxiety that haunted early EV adopters is increasingly a thing of the past - though on a long coastal run, planning still pays off.
Of course, it’s not perfect. The touchscreen can be a distraction, especially when fiddling with climate or media settings mid-traffic. And while Tesla’s fit and finish has improved, some details still feel a touch “tech-startup,” particularly on long-term wear.
Still, these are small irritations in what is otherwise a genuinely eye-opening drive. The 2025 Model 3 isn’t just a car - it’s a statement: electric doesn’t mean compromising, and future-ready can still be thrilling. In a world increasingly obsessed with sustainability, it’s the kind of ride that makes you want to whisper to your neighbours: “Yes, it’s electric. And yes, it’ll leave you smiling.”
