Kendall Jenner's 818 Tequila Arrives Down Under.

The line between endorsement and genuine passion can be as hazy as a fine Scotch. As spirits continue their meteoric rise in popularity, more famous faces are joining the ranks, leaving us to wonder who's just collecting a pay check and who truly cares about the liquid in your glass. Fortunately, a growing number of big names attached to these bottles are proving that they're not just in it for the fame – they genuinely care about their brands and the people who savour them.

Kendall Jenner, the name synonymous with fashion, has ventured into the world of spirits with her brainchild, 818 Tequila. This exquisite tequila embodies the spirit of refinement and craftsmanship, setting a new standard for those who appreciate the finer things in life.

With the Blanco edition of the 818 range, the journey begins with the agave, carefully cooked in traditional brick ovens, allowing the flavours to intensify over a leisurely 40-hour period. The agave's essence is then meticulously extracted using a tahona.

After the patient fermentation process, the spirit embarks on a transformative double distillation in pot stills, further enhancing its character. This is where the magic happens.

The Blanco variant is typically unaged, appearing crystal clear and bottled immediately after distillation. Occasionally, it may rest in stainless steel for up to 60 days, or, as it is the case with 818’s Blanco expression, it indulges in a flirtation with wood, aging for 21 days in French oak barrels.

As you delve into the world of 818 Tequila, your senses will be enticed by its sweet and alluring aroma. Hints of vanilla beckon, accompanied by subtle notes of raw toasted oak, a touch of cinnamon, and a whisper of herbal green pepper.

On the palate, the tequila presents itself as smooth and sweet, with vanilla taking centre stage. There's a gentle, underlying tequila bite, a mere nuance amidst the sweetness that may go unnoticed unless actively sought.

As the experience draws to a close, a delicate warmth lingers, reminiscent of a well-executed performance. While this tequila may not be tailored for sipping alone, it becomes a versatile companion, ready to be savoured neat, shot, or masterfully mixed into your favourite concoction.

Sustainability at the Core

Beyond crafting exceptional spirits, 818 Tequila is committed to sustainability as the distillery operates on biomass and solar power to minimize carbon emissions. Bottles are crafted from recycled glass, and their paper products hold certification from the Forest Stewardship Council.

Given that 818’s Blanco expression is a solid offering, we are looking forward to sampling the Reposado, the Añejo and especially the Eight Reserve, which, as the name suggests, is blend of Añejos aged up to eight years in both French and American barrels.
