There are brands that follow the winds of fashion, and there are those that chart the course. Antler, The British Travel Brand Since 1914, belongs firmly to the latter - less a label than a compass guiding generations of travellers through time, tide, and terminal.

Now, with the unveiling of the Heritage Collection, Antler doesn't simply introduce luggage - it unveils a philosophy in motion. This is not baggage, but ballast; not mere casing, but a curated reliquary for the rituals of modern voyaging. In this collection, function finds its form in narrative, and design becomes destiny.

The Cartographer’s Touch - 110 Years of Travel Etched into Design

For over a century, Antler has operated like a seasoned cartographer - mapping the evolving needs of travellers while anchoring its craft in British design sensibilities. Today, owned by Australia’s Strandbags Holding Pty Ltd yet headquartered in London under the discerning leadership of Managing Director Kirsty Glenne, the brand continues to refine what it means to move with intention.

The Heritage Collection is the culmination of this cartographic journey: two years in the making, hand-built over three months, and imagined not as reinvention but as renaissance. Each piece is a kind of heirloom - designed not to be replaced, but remembered.

Suitcases as Suitors - A Courtship of the Senses and the Senses of Travel

At the heart of the collection are two protagonists: the Heritage Stripe Cabin and the Heritage Stripe Trunk. They are less products than suitors - courting the modern traveller with structure and elegance.

The Cabin, debuting in April 2025, is a short story told in polycarbonate and aluminium, engineered for both poise and performance. Its lightweight construction and robust bones echo Antler’s long-standing trunk lineage - lean yet lasting, like a haiku composed for the jet stream.

The Trunk, arriving in Autumn, is the epic - a vessel designed not for the overnight but the odyssey. With 90 litres of cavernous space, it evokes the golden era of transatlantic crossings, but speaks fluently to contemporary rituals: modular packing, TSA compliance, silent precision wheels. A stately silhouette with a zipperless whisper, it is the maritime trunk reborn for the modern concourse.

Form Follows Memory - Archival Echoes Reimagined

What makes the Heritage Collection truly distinct is its devotion to detail - a design language that draws from the sepia-toned archives yet speaks in the crisp diction of today. The double-latch closure recalls an era when opening a suitcase felt akin to opening a cabinet of curiosities. Now reengineered with TSA-approved security, it embodies both nostalgia and necessity.

Custom soft-close handles, replaceable wheels, and reinforced corners reflect a devotion to thoughtful longevity - a counterpoint to a culture of the disposable. This is luggage as legacy - meant not just to travel with you, but through you.

Geology of Design - Colours Rooted in Landscape and Time

Antler’s chosen palette - Sandstone and Basalt - reads like a geological meditation. Sandstone is the whisper of coastal cliffs at golden hour, warm and timeworn. Basalt is the stoic geometry of ancient rock, dense and enduring. These hues don’t shout; they resonate. Like well-worn boots or heirloom watches, they gain character with every voyage.

To travel well is to carry more than things - it is to carry stories. In this spirit, Antler expands the collection with two thoughtful companions: the limited-edition Heritage Tote and the Heritage Tag. Made in the UK, the tote fuses water-repellent organic cotton canvas with Scottish leather accents - a refined nod to utility. Inside, compartments designed for modern artefacts - laptops, tablets, tangled chargers - make the bag as composed inside as it is handsome without.

The tag, hand-cut and stitched, becomes not just a nameplate but a signature - a tactile postscript to a letter written in transit.

The Traveller as Archivist, the Suitcase as Vessel

What Antler offers here is not a product but a proposition: that in an era of hypermobility and shallow novelty, true elegance lies in endurance. The Heritage Collection is an invitation to become an archivist of your own experience. It is for those who believe that luggage should not simply arrive - it should arrive with you, bearing witness.

In the great theatre of travel, where gates are stages and passports are scripts, Antler’s Heritage Collection plays the role of the silent lead - never shouting for attention, yet unforgettable in presence. A reminder that how we carry our belongings is inextricable from how we carry ourselves.
